You've booked your junk removal appointment β great. Now what? The good news is that with a full-service company like Ponderosa Hauling, you don't need to do much. But a little preparation goes a long way toward making the job faster and cheaper.
Do: Identify Everything That's Going
Walk through your space before the crew arrives and mentally (or physically) tag everything that needs to go. This prevents the back-and-forth of "wait, can you take this too?" mid-job, which slows things down.
If you have items you're not sure about β appliances, electronics, large furniture β note them and we'll tell you on the spot whether we can take them and if there are any restrictions.
Do: Clear a Path
You don't need to move any of the junk yourself β that's our job. But if there are boxes, pets, or kids blocking the path from the items to the door and driveway, clearing that route ahead of time helps significantly.
Make sure our truck and trailer can access your driveway or the area closest to where the junk is. If there's a narrow gate or low-hanging branch, let us know when you book.
Do: Separate Donations From Disposal
If you have items you want donated (we take usable furniture, appliances, and household goods to local donation facilities), set them apart from the stuff going straight to disposal. A sticky note or separate pile works fine.
This matters for two reasons: it helps us work faster, and it ensures your good stuff actually gets donated rather than accidentally going in the landfill pile.
Don't: Rent a Dumpster "Just in Case"
We've shown up to jobs where the homeowner rented a dumpster and started filling it before we arrived. Now you're paying for both. If you booked us, let us handle it β that's what the flat rate covers.
Don't: Try to Consolidate Everything First
One of the most common things we hear: "I wanted to get it all in one pile before you came." Unless the items are already in one place, don't strain your back trying to move heavy furniture. We're built for that. Just show us what goes.
What to Expect on the Day
Most jobs take anywhere from 10 minutes (small loads) to 2 hours (full trailer loads). We'll give you a time estimate when we walk through.
